If you own a business and/or brand and have a business website, there is no questions about it, you need to blog! The benefits of blogging are no joke – Blogs provide an exceptional boost to search engine optimization (SEO), they also develop and strengthen relationships with existing and new customers, they help establish your business as an industry leader, and connect people to your brand.

So, now that we got the why out of the way, let’s dive in the how. How to set up a blog? Setting up a new blog for your business is the best way to manage your online blog content with a guide full of goals, titles/topics, SEO keywords, word count goals, and due dates. So, how can you create your blog content calendar? Below we will explain what is the best way to start a blog

Download A Blog Content Calendar Template

You will need to do a little bit of research to find out which are the best editorial calendar templates. Make sure you pick one that works best with you, keeping it simple and less overwhelming. The best free ways to start a blog is to get the templates and the tools for free. There are many options out there that you can choose from, most of them work as good as the ones you pay for. It is all about what you feel more comfortable with and can get the job done.

Do Your Keyword Research

To build your own blog that will have the unique spin for your business goals, KEYWORDS are essential. This is the first step to generating content ideas with SEO value. Keyword research can help you with identifying trends that can bring relevant searches to your website. There are many options for tools to help you find valuable keywords according to your specific business goals. We use the free keyword tool Ubersuggest, but you can use Google Keyword Planner, or Google Trends

Brainstorm Some Ideas for Your Blog Content Calendar

Try to do this monthly or quarterly. To form a schedule, you need content ideas that need to be written down. You can research, “Content calendar for bloggers,” or as simple as researching by topic. For example, if you have a photography business you can research what’s trending in the photography industry and get many ideas about topics and content.

Schedule Your Topics for The Month in Your Blog Content Calendar

Before anything, remember to be timely with holidays or national days when you're scheduling your content, like International Women’s Day. Remember to set a realistic goal, you probably want to commit to posting weekly, but we all know that isn’t possible for everyone. Posting a blog on your webpage twice a month it’s a good balance, but if you have the (wo)manpower to post a blog weekly – have at it! Just remember, the best easy way to create a blog is to have a workable, functional topic schedule.

Stick to The Schedule

So, remember those deadlines we talked about? Put those into your blog content calendar so you have goals. If you usually post on Fridays, but one Friday in a month is a holiday, schedule that post for Thursday. DO NOT miss a week just because you “got busy” or “the office was closed.” The easiest way to set up a blog is by using a content publishing platform that allows you to schedule when the post go live. Being consistent in your posting helps develop domain authority and shows Google that your website is active with new information on a frequent basis.

Keep on Top of It

Starting a blog can feel overwhelming, so the best thing to do is to keep writing down topics as they enter your brain. Keep choosing every month. Keep updating your blog content calendar. Keep up on your content and don’t forget to promote it on social media.
